Why it’s not the right time to travel(& why it is)

The world is recovering from a pandemic that we never saw coming and we are adamant to recover and move forward and not look back to the pain and suffering the second wave of Coronavirus had on the nation. The cases of the virus have dropped drastically and most of the restrictions have been lifted in many states so that people can get back to their affairs but the “new normal” is very difficult to become a reality. Traveling is something that had been affected the most during the lockdown and now that everyone is free to move, even people who did not like traveling are moving towards the mountains or beaches since traveling is the only cure from this state of despair. Here are a few thoughts on why you should not travel right now and why you should. The Monsoon season is upon us Most of the travelers find respite in either hilly areas or beaches and both of them are prone to dangerous natural activities during the monsoon season. The landslides in the mountains destroy roads and bridges like the one that recently happened in Kinnaur and the tides are so high on the beaches that a person can not even get close to them. Monsoon is gripping mountains roads but they look amazing! Since the travel restrictions have just opened up for traveling, people are thronging these places without prior information and knowledge about the places and even required documents due to which traffic build-up has become another problem as well. Although it might not be the best time to visit mountains or the best time to travel to beaches, it might be the right time to travel right now too. Since the cases of the Coronavirus have just started going down and people have been vaccinated, it might be right to go out on a getaway since we all have been cooped up for so long in our homes. Monsoon treks can never be better To make sure you have a safe travel journey during monsoons, do the following things: Research about the weather forecast of the place you’re visiting on the dates you’re going to travel. 90% of the time the forecast is right and you should make changes accordingly. Read recent news related to weather incidents or natural calamities in the place you’re visiting. Look out for landslides, cloud bursts, road blockage, high tides, river level rising, and thunderstorms. A few states in India have proper guidelines if you wish to enter that state for traveling. Do read the guidelines beforehand and keep your documents ready accordingly. Keep your Monsoon gear ready, raincoats or poncho, an umbrella, rain cover for bags, tire kit if you’re driving, a headlamp, waterproof phone case, mosquito repellent, and some extra socks. You can find more tips and tricks on our blog page here and if you’re looking to travel and want to create your own experience head over here. Too many people are traveling A major problem while traveling right now is that everyone is looking to travel and all the major tourist spots have witnessed a lot of crowds. Due to this influx of too many travelers, the markets and tourist attractions are getting crowded and no social distancing norms are being followed which might become a big safety issue. As a result, people are opting to stay in hotels or indoors and not wander outside to these famous attractions. People thronging the streets of Manali with no Social Distancing Due to so many people traveling and crowding major tourist attractions, another major problem is finding availability in hotel rooms and the cost of accommodation going up. Since a lot of people are traveling, it also becomes hard to have a flexible schedule and plan. Major tourist spots can be crowded with people but that’s why they are major tourist spots because tourists are going there. This might be the right time to skip these major places and head over to some amazing hidden gems near major tourist spots. Instead of Manali, visit Jibhi, instead of Shimla visit Theog, instead of Mussoorie visit Landour, instead of Nainital visit Naukuchiatal. Check out our blog on hidden gems in India here. A view from Naukuchiatal that beats all the major tourist spots It might not be the best time to visit Manali or the best time to visit Goa but if you do want to visit the major tourist spots, you can change the way you travel, try out the following things to make sure to get a safe and amazing travel experience: Try Staycation: Staycations are basically vacations where you get a wholesome experience of the place you’re staying in and enjoying all the activities and amenities of the stay while staying safe from crowds of people. Relieve your stress on a Workcation: As the name suggests it’s a combination of Work + Vacation where you take your workspace where you travel. Stay in your hotel with an amazing ambiance in your favorite location and work during the working hours and exploring when you get off work. Take the offbeat route: You can always wander on to unique and unexplored places near your destination. There are always villages and natural whereabouts where you can stay near the major tourist attractions. Start your adventure on a trekking trail: Treks are often underrated and people don’t really travel to treks since most of the travelers are looking for a peaceful getaway. You can pick up a 2-3 days hike or go on a week-long adventure on some amazing treks in India To personalize a safe experience visit our travel support page at www.thetarzanway.com/travel-support The Coronavirus is still looming at large The reason why we all want to travel is Coronavirus and the reason why we are hesitant to travel is also the Coronavirus(pretty ironic), we all are frustrated because of
Dear diary, India is amazing!

Dear Diary, Touchdown. India here I am. Made it to Spice heaven and I’m already giggling at the sight of the mystical ‘’tuk-tuks’’. Namaste replaces hello, chai replaces coffee, sarees replace jeans, temples replace churches, Bollywood replaces Hollywood!… Time to embrace the east and all that comes with it! All the amazing monuments and palaces were just so unique Wandering the overcrowded streets gives you the perfect first-hand cultural experience, the touch of cashmere hanging out the shops, the incense smell burning in every open window, the constant noise of the honks, the endless taste of spices, the sight of every color in every corner… You couldn’t be anywhere else. The Jaisalmer chapter: Survived an 18-hour long train ride, thoughts: the scenario was gorgeous plus the train gives me a much-needed adventure feel! The golden city, a small town, perfect to wander through all the majestic ancient architecture, felt like a time machine taking me back a few centuries! The greatest part about this Rajasthani city is that is situated right on the Thar desert, which in India means camel safari! I had a chance to do an overnight one! Hopping on a camel and through the desert, we go! The sunny desert was an experience to behold Feels unreal to be surrounded by endless dunes and just gaze at the horizon waiting for that mind-blowing sunset! Once is dark a fire-cooked meal awaits, followed by a singing session, just before laying in a sleeping bag with no roof, just a million stars! India, I surrender. The Jaipur Chapter – They call it the pink city for a good reason. You can see splashes of light pink in every corner, in every monument, in every shop. The city is magical, the Jal Mahal view makes you feel like you’re in a fairy tale, a castle on the water surrounded by mountains who wouldn’t? The Amber Fort is a must, ancient and magnificent. The views are breathtaking, the palace inside is full of details one didn’t know could exist. I ended my trip with a visit to the Monkey Temple for sunset. It was one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever witnessed. On the top of a mountain, holds a tiny white house that keeps the absolute best of views and monkeys to keep you company. The Rishikesh chapter- I’ve done little to no research about this place but heard wanders, once I got off my tuk-tuk and walked about five meters I could see why. Here’s what you need to know about Rishikesh: there’s a gorgeous holy river called Ganga, it runs through hundreds of Himalayan mountains, it’s surrounded by waterfalls, there’s a beach, there’s river rafting, it’s the Yoga Capital of the World, there are endless temples to visit, there’s a Beatles Ashram, iconic to say the least and it has for sure the best and cheapest cafes with a breathtaking view! Is that enough to make you go? Love, Carol. ♥️ Check out how to make your own personalized travel experience with The Tarzan Way.
Experience of a Solo Woman Backpacker in India

India is a challenging destination for a wide variety of reasons that include the population density, extreme weather, transportation delays, the proliferation of scammers, Delhi belly, culture shock, etc but at the same time it is beautiful, historical, fascinating and a land of many hidden jewels with beautiful hearts. It started with complete nervousness “I was very skeptical to come to India and travel all over India alone with such a young company. My first night of the experience was when I was the most nervous, I had to take a train from Kochi to Bangalore where my experience was to begin but I had a hard time locating the platform on which the train was supposed to come, India can be unorganized at some times. All the anxiety, the fear, the terror came onto me once and my uneasiness gripped me hard. I knew I was being nervy and just needed someone to reassure me that everything is fine. So, I contacted my experience captain at The Tarzan Way. He made me realize that this is very normal in India and I just have to find platform number 3 and board the train there. When I finally got on the train and settled in, I lost the signal on my phone. I couldn’t contact anyone but I knew the train is the right one, the people are nice and I could reach out to The Tarzan Way if I had any kind of emergency” You can plan your own personalized experience with The Tarzan Way at their Travel Support page. My first location, the Garden City “I reached Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India, and started my travel journey with TTW. Loved the architecture in India! Bangalore was mainly a transit city so I didn’t have many plans to explore the city. I had a lot of curiosity to visit and see the beautiful structure of the IIM Bangalore built by the very famous award-winning architect but due to some unforeseen political problem, I wasn’t able to visit it. The hostel I stayed in was amazing and a perfect fit for youngsters but the only little problem I had was that the size of the room. I was lucky enough to experience the beautiful and colorful annual flower show festival held in Lal Bagh Park and tried some amazing fish in one of the cafes around. I also ensured my visit to the National Gallery of Modern Art as the best way to experience one’s culture is through the art they create.” Ahmedabad was just amazing for me! “As I wanted to experience all the modes of transportation in India, TTW managed my travel from Bangalore to Ahmedabad by flight. Ahmedabad, the city endowed with a rich architectural heritage, was one I was really fascinated about, so I decided to stay there for 5 days. The vibe of Ahmedabad was great! TTW beautifully crafted my itinerary and managed to include everything I wanted. First thing was to visit IIM Ahmedabad, which was one of the reasons for my whole trip to India, and it was amazing! Then I visited the National Institute of Design and met some of the architecture students who suggested me some places to visit as an architect and soon I realized that the moment you open up and initiate some conversation, people are more willing to help and discuss with you. They love to show their culture, suggest their favorite places, and show local activities. Very close to the sunset, I saw a beautiful Riverfront flower park. I wanted to take the picture of a flower so I went inside where a guard saw me and insisted to pay for the entry and the camera. He insisted to take me to the ticket booth and forced me to follow him as he wanted to take advantage and make me pay because I was a tourist…So when we quit the park, I just stopped following him and went out of that area. Le Corbusier was a very famous modern architect and one of my major reason to visit Ahmedabad. He built some famous houses and museums that I wanted to visit. Ville Shodan was a success as the family allowed outsiders to visit. The day ended with a very delicious dinner at Gordhan Thal suggested by TTW. The people there were very nice and helpful. Overall, Ahmedabad was chill and I didn’t hesitate to go to some institutes or unis and chill in their green area, the food there was cheap and the ambiance was peaceful.” Next stop, meeting the TTW Team and exploring Delhi “I took the night sleeper train to Delhi. Everything was fine, people were kind and even if I didn’t understand, I saw how their bond began to evolve. At first, no one knew each other, so it was a little awkward to sit like that. But soon people began to talk, to discuss and then after 2-3 hours, they were friends. I reached Delhi and met a sari seller in Old Delhi bazaar who taught me how to deal with sellers as a tourist. I was lucky to always meet people who were nice and respectful. The heritage of Delhi was just mesmerizing My hostel in Delhi was really cool and clean. So after I refreshed myself in my room, I met Naman, The TTW member who planned my trip. He along with another TTW member came to take me from my hostel and we went to have lunch together. They showed me how to use the metro, how to deal with the drivers, and so on. I had some knowledge and experiences so it was not entirely new for me. But for someone who is new to Indian culture, this service is just amazing!! Then we went shopping and since we get along pretty well,
How the 2nd wave of Coronavirus will impact traveling in India

The Coronavirus has struck again and struck hard again. A time where every industry had just started to revive from the unprecedented crisis and got a sigh of relief, the sudden spike in the cases of Coronavirus has ruined all of it. Traveling is going to be hit again and going to hit hard. Airlines and hoteliers are already seeing a decline in the number of bookings and a rise in the cancellation of already booked tickets. The question is, how bad is it going to be for your future travel plans? Do you need to cancel your already planned experiences? Should you postpone your plan to travel? Increasing cases is a major concern The line does not seem to straighten now! The first and the obvious problem with traveling right now is going to be the increasing number of cases and the increase in the probability of getting infected by the novel Coronavirus. The fact that India is reporting a record increase in these cases is a major concern for any traveler. Experts say that the 2nd wave of Coronavirus is going to be even bigger than the previous one. Having flattened the curve at the beginning of the year and the vaccines kicking in, the population had been relaxed and thought of it as an end to the pandemic but as the masks came off and the social distancing disappeared, the infection started spreading without getting a hint of it. Test for Coronavirus had also reduced all over the nation and restrictions put in place had come off entirely making the mindset of every person lenient over the virus and a very casual attitude over wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. This increase in cases was bound to happen and many even predicted the same. The question is should we be concerned? Whereas the increase in cases is alarming if a traveler is taking complete precautions and keeping in check with the restrictions in place, there will be no cause to worry to travel. A mask reduces your chances of transmission by 90% and if you’re not in a crowded place then these chances are even further reduced. Restrictions have been put in place in a lot of states With the increase in cases and even deaths, most of the states have started implementing some sort of restrictions to keep the unprecedented rise in check. Restrictions such as a mandatory negative test report and the number of people traveling together are the major ones that almost every state has taken into consideration and wearing masks is a must for every person in the state. Preparation being made to make you stay at home! A negative RT-PCR test has become mandatory to travel in most of the states creating another panic in a traveler’s mind. Less number of people at a specific place is also being implemented, like fewer gatherings in events, half occupancy in restaurants and public places, and even in public transport. Some states have even implemented full lockdown to break the chain of the cases. We believe that these restrictions although very important will definitely halt traveling and a traveler should vary of where they are traveling. A traveler found to have symptoms and a positive test will force them to quarantine in the place where they are making it another big problem when traveling. Shouldn’t the vaccines create an impact on the number of cases? Vaccinations are the eventual solution to this pandemic but are they really creating an impact right now? Get. The. Vaccine. Now. The current vaccinations we have do create an impact for protecting against the virus but each body reacts differently to the vaccine. You need to get 2 doses of the same vaccine a month apart for your body to develop the antibodies and even the development of antibodies takes up to 15 days. The vaccines are also effective for around 6 months and after that, we’ll have to get vaccinated again. Vaccines are effective and everyone should get vaccinated but the process of developing antibodies and getting everyone vaccinated is a slow and cumbersome process creating a problem and which is why we are seeing such an increase in cases. How is travel going to be possible now? Traveling is a big no-no during the current situation with the pandemic. We would recommend everyone to stay home and stay safe for a while till the lockdown is over and cases are reduced to some extent. Traveling with complete precautions, masks, social distancing, and complete use of sanitizer should be done. Don’t worry, you will travel again soon! After this wave ends(we hope soon too), travel is set to boom. The vaccination drive will kick in and the season to travel will be upon us. The population was already on their heels when it came to traveling before the 2nd wave and many of you already planned travel experiences for the upcoming season and those experiences will happen for sure. The first wave of Coronavirus was very different from the current one. We have vaccines available now and the medical facilities have improved a lot from the earlier scenario. Staying at homes for a week or so will result in breaking the chain of transmission, making way to vaccinate more people, and for hospitals to be better prepared for any new case, and thus, we will be able to travel again! For now, stay home to stay safe. Practice social distancing, wear a mask at all times when out or meeting someone new, refrain from touching your face, and wash your hands regularly. We hope to bring you safe and unique travel experiences in the near future to feed your wanderlust soon!

11 Indian Travel Youtubers you should follow in 2022

Since Youtube culture properly hit India back in the late 2010s, there have been many Travel youtube channels popping up now and then. Ultimate Guide to Tourist Activities during Coronavirus

Coronavirus has made sure that we should be prepared for anything at all. Traveling has completely changed and will not be the same unless we get a worldwide vaccine that can be available to the masses. But since the wanderlust in us is never going to die and our want to travel and explore is always alive, we need to find new ways to tackle this paradox. In the previous few blogs, we’ve highlighted how to choose the right transportation, accommodation, and destination but what can we really do during our travel excursion? Social distancing has made it difficult to just get out of your accommodation and visit the place you’ve just searched for on the internet, you’ll have to make sure that the place is safe to visit and whether is it even open or not. This blog gives you a general idea of what places you can visit or include in your itinerary during a travel excursion with the norm of social distancing still in play. 1. Monuments The most popular tourist attractions in the world have always been magnificent monuments rich in heritage and culture. To explore this grandeur of unreal structures will be somewhat possible during social distancing as well. Most of the monuments have been allowed to open to the public under strict rules to ensure that the virus is kept in check. Only those monuments that are not in the containment zone have been allowed to open with regular sanitization drives and having sanitization points at each corner. One of the most iconic monuments in the world, Taj Mahal. To ensure more safety, no tickets will be sold on physical counters, only e-tickets or digital tickets are available for entering the monuments. This will ensure no contact and also help in limiting the visitors entering at one time by assigning specific time slots. Even the parking and cafes & kiosks will only accept digital payment instead of cash payments to ensure no contact. Entry and exit points have been marked separately by the monument authorities to ensure social distancing at each point, and a traveler will only be allowed to enter the premises after thermal checking of symptoms and hygiene check using sanitization points. Moreover, lights and video shows that created large crowds will be halted completely till further notice to ensure social distancing. 2. Adventure Activities Most of the adventure activities had only stopped when our country was in complete lockdown. When you think of most adventure activities, they generally involve a sense of social distancing since only a few people opt for them. These activities were not possible earlier only because no travelers were visiting due to the inability of traveling. Now, adventure activities are safe to choose and will have an even higher demand in the socially distanced world. Loved by most travelers, rafting is suitable for all adventure enthusiasts. Adventure activities are open in all the non-containment zones as with any other essentials. There has been a drop in travelers and thus people opting for these activities but they are completely safe and provide a respite to a person who has stayed home and washed utensils as their most adventurous activity of the day. I would recommend going for river rafting and camping by the river with a serene night trek in Rishikesh for this time but if you are planning to really get that adrenaline rush out, paragliding at Bir Billing is another great option. 3. Gardens/Nature Park Gardens have been opened a while back for the local public as well as tourists with the limitation of wearing masks at all times. Not adhering to wearing masks attracts a penalty that is applicable in any public area. Social distancing is a little hard to be maintained at these parks as they attract a lot of people every day. It will be advisable to not to visit these parks unless you are taking strict precautions and maintaining your distance from other visitors. Waterfalls are a traveler’s paradise and open for public Some nature parks have been opened in the country for the tourists but most of the wildlife sanctuaries have been closed for the safety of the animals as it is still unsure as to how this novel coronavirus affects different species. Also, since a lot of visitors drop by at these parks, it will be difficult to maintain social distancing while offering a great experience. Other naturally occurring tourist attractions like waterfalls, beaches, and mountains are open for visitors and are safe to visit but some of these attractions do expect a lot of visitors so do maintain your distance and wear a mask at all times. 4. Markets/Mall Whatever kind of traveler you are, you always need to find markets for shopping. It can be shopping for yourself or just souvenirs to take home but visiting a market is the most common practice when visiting a new place. Markets and malls have been opened by the government with just a few restrictions in place. Open markets are present everywhere in India and vendors love to bargain All shops must have sanitizers in place for hygiene safety and many have adopted to set ropes or barricades and marked spots on the floor to ensure social distancing. Open markets are much safer than closed shops and malls. Malls having confined closed spaces have a few more restrictions. Food courts in malls are closed, the temperature has to be maintained according to the government regulations(24-30 degrees), and a person with no symptoms will only be allowed in the mall premises. To be honest, malls are not really a necessity to be visited at all. Open markets are a much safer option and can be visited to buy essentials and other things. 5. Clubs/Pubs/Bars/Casinos Recently opened leisurely activities clubs, pubs, bars, and casinos can now be visited by

Kanyakumari is one of the most visited cities in Tamil Nadu Traveling to Tamil Nadu: The state of Tamil Nadu has been affected adversely by the coronavirus pandemic. With almost 4 lakh cases and 7,000 deaths, it has recorded the second-highest number of cases in all of the Indian states, staying behind Maharashtra. The state of Tamil Nadu has made it mandatory for anyone trying to come in the state to have an e-pass issued by the local government for tracking each and every tourist that sets foot in the state. They say it will help them keep a record of how these people are affecting the situation of the pandemic and can take future decisions accordingly. Traveling from Tamil Nadu: If you’re living in Tamil Nadu and planning to travel to a different state for an excursion, the safest destination by road, for now, would be Kerala. Kerala has recorded around 60,000 cases till now and the graph has been moving slowly there. Maharashtra The second-most visited state by foreign visitors coming to India, Maharashtra is famous for having the mesmerizing mountain ranges on one side and the serene coastline on the other. Tourists flourish the state of Maharashtra for its century-old temples, the picturesque western ghats by the side, ancient and rich in heritage forts and palaces, the calming ambiance of the sea, and to witness the industrial advances made in our country. With over 7 lakhs individuals being affected by the virus and more than 23 thousand deaths, the state was in a state of helplessness at one point. There is still a mandatory e-pass requirement to travel to the state of Maharashtra but it will be lifted by the start of September 1, 2020. The central government had eased the restrictions but the state had stayed with the mandate of e-pass to keep a track of the cases in the state. Traveling from Maharashtra: The safest place to visit if you’re living in Maharashtra would be Goa. Goa has recorded around 15,000 cases in total and the rate of increase is fairly low. For individuals to enter Goa, they need to present their COVID-19 status to the state, in the form of negative COVID test, or go a 14-day home quarantine routine, or they can also opt for a COVID test at the point of entry into the state. Goa government has made it easy for tourists to enter the state. Maharashtra is in close proximity to Gujarat, Telangana, and Karnataka but the spread of the virus is not as controlled as that in Goa. They can be ideal tourist spots but one needs to be really cautious with traveling.
